Preparation for CSS Exams
After getting knowledge about submission of application, the stage of preparation starts. For prepration, candidates should follow, following important points,
  ü  Get comprehensive & detailed knowledge of all subjects.
  ü  Opt optional subjects very carefully and before making any final decision 
Keep following points in your view.
        · Optional subjects and compulsory subjects should be inter 
           linked e.g. if you opt Indo-Pak History or Political
           Science compulsory paper “Pakistan Affair”can 
           facilitate you in your preparation.Similarly I.R  & 
           European/ British History and Current Affairs
     can be bracketed.
        · Always give preference to your personal interest as you
     can prove yourself best in the subject of your interest.

       ·  Your opted subject should have some academic
           background on your part as it will be quite difficult
     for you to prepare an entirely new thing.
  ü  Plan and determine your priorities.
  ü  Always select scoring subjects.
  ü  Rot learning and aimless learning can’t bring desired and fruitful results, so
       1)  First of all take past papers of at least five years to get exact
      knowledge of paper pattern and syllabus.
       2)  Secondly read previous paper carefully and mark all repeated 
            questions.By doing this you will learn all about the topics of great
            importance and also how examiner can ask questions about them.
  ü  While preparing your focus should be on facts collecting as now –a-days to 
             the point and original material of the answers is liked and preferred.
Now let’s start our preparation. First of all I will introduce you with your CSS syllabus.  
CSS papers are 12 in number and total marks are 1200. Out of these twelve papers six papers are compulsory whereas six papers are optional.
Compulsory Subjects are,
Compulsory subjects are six in numbers and each paper is of 100 marks. Total marks of all compulsory papers are 600.

Ø  English (Precise & Comprehension
Ø   Everyday science
Ø  Current Affair
Ø  Pakistan Affair
Ø  Islamite
Optional subjects
FPSC has divided optional subjects into 9 groups 1-e from Group “A” to ‘I” and students have to select optional subjects of 600 marks out of all these groups. Now which subjects form an acceptable combination has also been mentioned along with each group by FPSC

·         Subjects  carrying not more than 200 marks can be opted
·         Public Administration and Business Administration cannot be opted with each other in a combination.
